C&A DocWriter Control Pack Builder

The C&A DocWriter Control Pack Builder is a Windows client that enables you to view, edit, and create your own packs of IA controls.

In the C&A DocWriter toolsuite, Information Assurance controls are grouped into packs and distributed in a specially formatted binary file.  When you want to add a group of IA controls to your C&A DocWriter database, you simply import the control pack file.

The Control Pack Builder utility allows you to view control pack files outside of the C&A DocWriter database.  That is convenient, but more importantly, you can use the Control Pack Builder to create your own control pack files from Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.  This is import for organizations and systems that require a set of custom Information Assurance controls.

The process is simple.  You start with an Excel spreadsheet of Information Assurance controls.  Optionally, each control can have one or more security test procedures as well.  At a minimum, an IA control must have a number that is unique to the control pack, and a description of the control.  However, there are many other possible fields you can utilize to better classify your controls.

Control Pack Builder provides a flexible import mechanism to import your controls and tests from Excel.
