C&A DocWriter Desktop Licensing

The C&A DocWriter Windows client licensing is restricted by user account  One C&A DocWriter Windows client license is required for each network user account with access to the software.  For non-virtual environments, with software installed on a single client, each user with access to the client must have a license.  For virtual server installations, the license does not restrict the the number of machines from which a single user can access the software, however, a single license is required for each user account with access to the software.

In the event that a licensed user leaves the organization, the license can be transferred to another user within the organization.  Licenses cannot be transferred outside of the organization.

For a single C&A DocWriter user license, there is no limit to the number of C&A DocWriter databases which can be accessed, or to the number of projects.

C&A DocWriter Web Server Licensing

The C&A DocWriter web module is licensed per C&A DocWriter database instance.  One C&A DocWriter web module instance can connect to one and only one C&A DocWriter database (note that multiple C&A DocWriter databases can be installed within a single SQL Server instance).  The licenses does not restrict the number of users who may connect to the C&A DocWriter web module instance, nor the number of projects in a C&A DocWriter instance.  The number of users and projects is restricted only by the load capacity of the web server and the organization's specific project configuration and resource allocation requirements.

Annual License:  The C&A DocWriter Web Module is licensed annually by default and must be renewed annually.  Perpetual licenses (not requiring renewal) are available.

Source Code License:  Source code licenses (ASP.NET in C#) are available to allow you to customize your implementation of C&A DocWriter.  (licenses for developer tools required separately).

C&A DocWriter System Requirements and Installation

C&A DocWriter Desktop Client

The desktop client requires Microsoft Windows 2000 or later.  An Internet connection is not required.  If the database is hosted locally, a network connection is not required.  If the database is hosted on a network server, the client computer must maintain a connection to the network server.

C&A DocWriter Web Module

The C&A DocWriter Web Module runs on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or later.  Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 or later must be installed).  Access to an  SMTP server is recommended but not required.  HTTPS access is supported through IIS.  You must provide your own security certificate.  IP address restrictions and other IIS configuration settings are the responsibility of the host.

Database Requirements

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later is the recommended database.  Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Access 2000 or later, and Oracle 10g or later are acceptable but future features may not support these databases.  Disk space requirements depend on database size.  1 GB is acceptable for started systems
